Use the Overview button to display/undisplay the overview map in the upper left hand corner of the map. |

Click then click and drag an area in the map frame to zoom. |

Click and then click in the map frame to zoom out. |

Click to zoom to the full extent of the map. |

Click and then click and drag in the map frame to pan to a new location. Alternatively, the arrows surrounding the map frame will pan in the direction of the arrow. |

Click on the identify button and then click on the map to display information for all the features chosen at the click point. The information will be displayed in a separate window. |

Click the visible box and the active circle next to
the layer of interest in the Layers menu. Click refresh map. Click the
query tool button. Select a field from the drop down list to query. Select
an operator from the drop down list to be used in the expression. Type
in the value of the field you are querying for OR click on Get Samples
for a list of valid values for the field. Click Add to Query String. Click
Execute. Clicking Undo removes the last Add to Query String. A complex
expression can be built using AND, OR, NOT and ( ). Click clear, to clear
out the entire expression. If the query is successful, the features will
be highlighted and the results will display in a separate window. The
function also zooms to the highlighted feature(s). |

Click on the Measure button and then on your starting point on the map. It may take a few seconds to register that point, a red dot will appear when the point has been calculated. Then click on the next point. Both the total length and the segment length will be shown at the top of the map frame. |

Use the Clear Select button to clear the measurement line or features selected with query. |

Click the print button to print the data currently in the map frame. Enter a title in the box below the map frame and click "Create Print Page" to open a new Browser window with the map displayed. Then click the File/Print menu item to print. |

Through a point and click interface, access to USGS
real time stream flow data is accessed through the interactive mapping
interface. Clicking the USGS Real-Time Stream Flow button automatically
make the USGS Stream Gage layer Active and refreshes
the map display. Then click on a Gage on the map to display the real-time
stream data in a separate window. A demonstration of this function may
be viewed by clicking on the "Real-Time Stream Gage" icon located
to the left. |

Through a point and click interface, access to California
real time meteorology data is accessed through the interactive mapping
interface. Clicking the Real-Time Air Stations button automatically make
the Air Moniroting Station layer Active and refreshes
the map display. Then click on a Station on the map to display the meteorology
data in a separate window. A demonstration of this function may be viewed
by clicking on the "Real-Time Air Station" icon located to the
left. |

The photo hotlink tool allows for a point and click
interface to locations on the map where Lake Tahoe Basin photographs can
be accessed and displayed. Clicking the Photos button automatically make
the Photograph layer Active and refreshes the map display.
Then click on a Photo symbol on the map to display the image in a separate
window. A demonstration of this function may be viewed by clicking on
the "Photos" icon located to the left. |

The Douglas County Parcel data is available by clicking on the Douglas Parcel button. This will automatically make the county layer
Active and refreshes the map display.
Click on a parcel polygon on the map to display the parcel data in a separate

on the El Dorado Parcel button. This will automatically make the county

on the Washoe Parcel button. This will automatically make the county layer
Active and refreshes the map display. Click on a parcel

Through a point and click interface, access to Nevada
Water Quality Monitoring Data is accessed through the interactive mapping
interface. Click this button to activate the Nevada Water Quality Query
Tool. This will automatically make the NV WQ Mont. Sites layer Active
and refreshes the map display. Then click on a NV WQ Monitoring symbol
on the map to display. This will open a new window containing information
about the selected site. A water quality query may then be performed by
selecting a water quality parameter (i.e. Temp),
a operator (i.e. >=), and entering a water
quality value (i.e. 5) located at the bottom
of the page.Clicking on the SUBMIT QUERY
button will execute the user defined query. The query results (in the
form of a time-series plot and selected record table) are
displayed in a new window. A demonstration of this function may be viewed
by clicking on the "Nevada Water Quality Query" icon located
to the left. |

Data can be displayed in geographic coordinates as well
as State plane, and UTM Zone 10 or Zone 11. Geographic coordinates are the default.
Data is automatically re-projected on the fly when a map projection is chosen from the drop-down list located at the bottom of the viewer window.

The Lake Tahoe area National Map Pilot Project is an
ongoing USGS initiative to make seamless, best available, base map data
available online to the public. The TIIMS Mapping Application is enhanced
by adding the USGS map data to its current map layers through its "Multiservice
Mapping Viewer". Click on the "USGS Data" icon located
on the left to read more about this feature. |
