TIIMS Glossary

TIIMS is your gateway for the information you need to participate in Lake Tahoe Basin restoration and planning efforts. TIIMS is designed to serve more than the Lake Tahoe community – whether you are a resident or visitor, teacher or student, government agency or non-profit organization, research scientist or private consultant, TIIMS has the Lake Tahoe information you need.

TIIMS is more than an information repository - it is an interactive website that provides tools for users to share and manage information and data efficiently. With TIIMS, you can access monitoring data, maps, and reports and also learn how to get involved in environmental education and restoration projects in the Basin.

TIIMS provides access to data and information across a wide spectrum reflected as an information pyramid. TIIMS includes the ability for agencies and organizations to collaborate and coordinate their planning and restoration efforts in the Lake Tahoe Basin through the TIIMS workspaces.

Through TIIMS, you can:

  • Learn about Lake Tahoe Basin efforts through the introductory educational materials, presentations and publications.
  • Browse by Basin Topics and Restoration Projects and Planning Initiatives for more in-depth comprehensive information.
  • Search and discover Basin Organizations, TIIMS Partners and the key people involved in restoration efforts.
  • Find documents, data sets and more using the Basic (see above) and Advanced Search Engines.
  • Find Lake Tahoe planning and restoration events and meetings using the TIIMS calendar.
  • Download and analyze monitoring data including live data from the TIIMS Database Hub.
  • Map data online using the GIS mapping tool.
  • Find GIS Metadata and GIS Data and Documents with our Metadata Search Engine.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with others using the TIIMS Workspace Portal.
  • Contribute data using the TIIMS Metadata Toolkit and online bibliographic collaboration tool, and
  • Learn how you can get involved in restoration and planning efforts within the Lake Tahoe Basin!

The system was developed after conducting an extensive requirements analysis to determine user´s needs and priorities. This is the Prototype.  It will be further refined based on user feedback. Please help ensure that TIIMS will meet your information and data needs by taking a moment to complete the TIIMS User Survey. Read About TIIMS for more information about how TIIMS evolved.
